0 Back Pain from Poor Posture, Why Sit Up Straight? Easy Tips by Catz Austin Physical TherapyBack Pain from Poor Posture, Why Sit Up Straight? Easy Tips by Catz Austin Physical Therapy

Poor posture and a slouched, slumped back can contribute to a wealth of physical dysfunction and pain in the back, hips, butt, thighs, legs, arms, shoulders, neck, hands, and well… you get the idea. In this video, Christie Powell, head of physical therapy at Catz Austin, explains how poor posture can cause low back pain and other issues like carpal tunnel and sciatica. This video and the rest of the series will give you easy tips and exercises to alleviate pain and discomfort.

Often when we are sitting at the computer, watching TV or movies, playing video games, and driving, we slump into poor posture and a curved spine. This exerts pressure throughout the entire body and over time will severely weaken the shoulders and back so that sitting correctly becomes uncomfortable.

The only way to improve posture is to begin changing your habits and to try and get in the habit of reminding yourself to sit up straight. A posture-buddy at work is a great idea so you can keep reminding each other, or you can set a timer or alarm on your desk.

Part 2 will feature Ron Vaughn demonstrating some sports massage techniques to relax and unwind the muscles so the chest and pecs can loosen and open up, freeing the spine to move into its natural position.

Part 3 will give you some easy exercises and stretches you can do at home to assist with a tight neck and shoulders or back pain. She also will show an exercise using a physio ball and a foam rolller.

Christie received her Masters from Texas State University and is currently pursuing her PhD in Kinesiology/Movement Science at the University of Texas. She is dedicated to working with youth and adult athletes and is involved in various programs to promote education and increase awareness of athletic injuries.

C4, C5, C6, C7. Neck & shoulder pain treatment. Active Isolated Stretching.

0 C4, C5, C6, C7. Neck & shoulder pain treatment. Active Isolated Stretching.http://www.resolveyourpain.com/contact/ Cure cervical disc disease. Solve neck & shoulder pain with Active Isolated Stretching (AIS). An alternative to chiropractic, physical therapy, and surgery.
AIS is an effective solution to chronic neck, shoulder, head, and jaw pain. Upper body demonstration.
AIS therapy views tightness in muscles as being the cause to physical pain. Please visit http://www.resolveyourpain.com
Active Isolated Stretching approaches neck and shoulder pain by lengthening all the muscles that affect the problem area. Demonstrations in this video are also beneficial for Parkinson’s disease and complications from stroke. Headache sufferers will benefit from this treatment because muscular tension in the neck, upper back, chest, and arms creates tension in the head.
Lengthening muscles is the aim of yoga, pnf stretching, massage, thai massage, static stretching, rolfing, and myofascial release. But Active Isolated Stretching is the most effective system of lengthening muscles.
Cervical pain can be caused by different reasons. Sometimes it is not the neck muscles that are tight, but the shoulders that need to be lengthened.
Golfers will gain greater rotation in the shoulders – which is important for proper set up and follow through on the swing. Upper body work will help golfers keep their head still while the arms are winding up for the swing.
Tricep and deltoid lengthening will allow golfers greater range of motion in the swing, which will lead to more power.
